Electrolysis

Electrolysis is the only proven method of permanent hair removal. A free consultation is compulsary and essential for all new clients to the salon. A treatment plan will be devised to suit your specific requirements and a test patch will be completed. Disposable probes are used for each treatment. This is a safe and effective way to rid yourself of unwanted hair in smaller areas.

What is Red / Thread Vein Removal?

Fine Red / Thread Veins and Cherry Angiomas are common on the face, neck and décolleté. Using advanced electrolysis a fine probe is inserted into the capillary and a small electric current applied to cauterise it. The client experiences minor discomfort for a few seconds, with the results being instantaneous in most cases. This treatment is not suitable for visible veins located on the rest of the body as these are too big to treat using this method.

What is Skin Tag Removal?

Skin tags are commonly found on the neck, armpits, under the bust and sometimes in the groin area. They are small growths of skin that are pedunculated (elongated stalk attached to the body).  Skin tags are treated successfully using Advanced Electrolysis. A fine needle is inserted into the base of the stalk of the skin tag, and an electrical current is applied to cauterise the tissue. Within a few days the skin tag will fall off. Sometimes a larger skin tag may require more than one treatment.

How long does Electrolysis take?

The type of hair, skin sensitivity, the amount and cause (heredity, hormonal, medications) help determine the number and length of treatments. Since hair is in several stages of growth, only the visible hair is treated at each appointment.

By adhering to a regular treatment schedule, you will achieve faster results than someone who has treatment sporadically. It is advisable to start by coming weekly or every two weeks in the beginning. As progress is made, you'll find your sessions becoming shorter and further apart.

Many clients are initially dismayed to find out that Electrolysis is a process rather than an "instant fix". But remember that the time and money you spend on Electrolysis is an investment in permanently removing unwanted hair! It's definitely worth the commitment, if you hate that hair!

Are there any side effects?

There may be some redness (erythema) and/or small welts, that can last for varying times for each individual. Any irritation that you experience will be temporary. Tea Tree lotion can be applied every 2-4hrs for the first 24 hrs to help with the calming of the skin and to assist in keeping the skin free from bacteria while the hair follicles are open. For clients who suffer from Coldsores, there is a small chance the electrical current could trigger a coldsore to occur. This is not common, but can happen.
